The purpose of the Blueprint for Beginning the 2020-2021 School Year is to outline our plans on how we will begin the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Given the gravity of the global pandemic, the decision of whether “to open or not to open,” can not be taken lightly. This reopening plan was crafted with consideration given to guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Maryland Department of Health, the Baltimore City Department of Health, and the Saint Frances Family.
We felt it prudent to gauge the feelings of our Saint Frances Academy family. We conducted two surveys, one for families and one for faculty and staff. Out of 223 surveys distributed a total of 132 were completed and 52 impartial results were unable to count; that’s a response rate of 59%. Based on the survey results (i.e., question RTS03), our families are fairly split between distance/remote learning and a blended learning model (i.e., a mix of in-person and distance/remote learning). Likewise, views of our staff are split but they are dedicated to serving our scholars through whichever modality works best.
A part of our survey also offered open-ended opportunities for families to share feedback on what concerns them most regarding reopening. Naturally, the primary concern revolved around issues related to the health & safety of scholars and staff. Considering the many needs of our school community, this plan is designed with in-person safety and equity for remote learners at the forefront. The results of both surveys will be available on our website.
