PANTHERS UPEND T.C. IN SEMIS OF BCL TOURNAMENT

MARCH 4, 2008

The Panthers jelled in the second half last night and put it all together to defeat T.C. 84-65.  They held a first quarter lead of 21-14, but allowed the Owls back in the game in the second quarter and it was tied 30-30 at the half.  The Panthers came out with renewed determination in the third quarter and took the lead 52-36.  Knowing how we folded the last time we played them in the MIAA tournament, nothing was taken for granted this time.  The Panthers continued to pour it on in the fourth quarter and ended up with all five starters in double figures.

The Owls were hurt by Brandon Greene’s foul trouble.  With Sean Mosley fronting him, the six foot six Greene couldn’t get the ball down low.  Most of his points were on putbacks.

The Panthers had a balanced attack with Sean Mosley scoring 23, with 6 rebounds and 6 assists.  “New York” Oquendo was right behind with 17 points and 11 boards.  R.J. Williams had 14 while dishing out 6 assists and 4 steals.  Wayne Sparrow had 16 in the first three quarters when he had to go our with a bloody nose.  Donald Washington, the Energy Bunny, had 11 points and 6 rebounds.

The team played as one and looked for the open man on offense and played exceptional defense.  They have to keep that aggressiveness tonight against Mt. St. Joe and we will need a big game from Greg Lewis.  The championship is at 7 p.m. at Loyola College.  Come out and support your Panthers!!!!!
