PANTHERS WITHSTAND TOUGH GORETTI TEAM IN BCL TOURNAMENT

MARCH 3, 2008

The Panthers came out lethargic and Goretti came out inspired.  That scenario usually spells disaster for us, but this time we rebounded in the fourth quarter and snatched a victory from the “jaws of defeat.”

Led by Sean Mosley’s 19 points and 12 rebounds, the Panthers took a one point lead into halftime.  Up by four going into the fourth quarter, they allowed Goretti to take a one point lead before closing out with a bang……(Sean’s dunk), rather than a whimper!  Donald Washington played with his usual energy and snared nine rebounds in the process.  Anthony Oquendo had 10 points and five boards to go along with three steals.  R.J. Williams used his quickness to set up his teammates and scored nine points as a bonus.  Donte Holmes provided five boards off the bench when Wayne Sparrow (10 points) got in foul trouble.

Sean Mosley broke the SFA scoring record, which was held by Coach Karcher, at the end of the second quarter.  The game was stopped and Sean was given the ball as a keepsake.

The Panthers played well enough to win……..just……..and Goretti’s style of play is not to our liking.  They will have to have more of an effort to take down Towson Catholic tonight in the semi-final round.  We play at 7:45 at Loyola College.
