VARSITY SPOILS “SENIOR DAY” February 8, 2008
The gym on Charles Street was packed and the crowd awaited a typical St. Frances-T.C. matchup……a very closely played game, going back and forth until the final minute. It didn’t happen that way. The Panthers played their best game of the year, spreading the ball around, making incredible passes and involving the entire team. TC tried to double-team Sean Mosley and he ended up with seven assists, many of them to “New York” who led the team with 20 points. The team seems to be peaking at the right time and the young players are maturing and seem to be ready for the tournaments.
Sean still ended up with 19 points, making 7 out of 8 free throws in the final quarter as TC tried to foul their way back in the game. He also had 7 rebounds to go along with his 7 assists. Wayne Sparrow had 12 points, 2 boards and 2 steals as he has become the “John Havilcek” of the team. (For those of you too young to understand that reference….see the great Boston Celtics teams of the 50’s and 60’s) Greg Lewis is back in shape after his ankle injury and is more confident every game. He had 8 points, 4 boards and 2 steals.
If the team plays this well every game, we will be a real threat come tournament time.
