St. Frances Academy Monday, January 28, 2008 Student Announcements Gold Week
Senior Trip: The third senior class trip payment was due Friday. If you have not made your payment, make all checks and money orders payable to St. Frances Academy and them to Ms. Ward in Room 304. Seniors report to the Old Mac Lab for English periods with Mrs. Wilson. Spirit Week: Today begins Spirit Week please read the posted signs or go to the SFA website for more information. You must be dressed appropriately for each theme day or in school uniform. Reminder: Class and School posters should be done by next Thursday. Each class is responsible for making 2 class posters and 2 school posters. Homecoming Party: The tickets for the homecoming party are available for $15. They may be purchased from the main office or Ms. Ward. The party is Saturday, February 2nd from 8pm - 12am at St. Cecilia Hall. Summer Opportunities for Sophomores and Juniors The American Legion 2008 Boys State Program - held June 15-21, 2008 at McDaniel College, exposes Juniors to the US Constitutional form of government. Students will tour the US Naval Academy and the Maryland Legislature, where they will be addressed by top state government officials and take government classes and be addressed by top state governmental officials. Scholarships are available to pay for this experience. For more information, contact Raymond Callegary at 410-727-1365. Notre Dame Summer Scholars - June 22 - July 5, 2008 is open to students entering their Junior or Senior year who are at least 16 years old. Students will be challenged academically and personally, study with Notre Dame faculty, live in residence halls with fellow students, and experience, to the fullest extent possible, the life of a college student. Scholarship assistance is available. Applications are due by March 1, 2008. <http://summerscholars.nd.edu>. Carleton Liberal Arts Experience - A week of exciting academic exploration for high school Sophomores. July 12-18, 2008- FREE room, board, tuition, and travel costs. If you would like to study an array of liberal arts and sciences at a prestigious college this summer, please see Mrs. Wilson immediately. The deadline is coming up quickly. You will study about “The African American Experience in High Education,” “DNA Fingerprinting,” “Digital Photography,” “Strategies for Success in College” and “Civil Rights at the Turn of the Century.” After the program, you will receive a return trip to Carleton to visit the campus, all expenses paid.
