Sr. JF Basketball Blog VARSITY HANGS ON TO DEFEAT T.C. 60-57
It shouldn’t have been that close……..with things well in hand, the young Varsity let their ten point lead slip to three and it took clutch free throw shooting by Sean Mosley to seal the victory.
They finally put the ball in Mosley’s hands after two of the youngsters missed the front end of a one and one and let TC back in the game. Mosley led all scorers with 19 points and ten rebounds. He also dished out three assists, had two steals and one blocked shot…….did I mention that he was serving barbequed pork from the concession stand? He did have help. “New York” had sixteen points and thirteen huge rebounds and six blocked shots. There were so many blocked shots in this game that I have to add another column to the stats and include them. R.J. Williams had a solid game with six points and six assists. Wayne Sparrow had six points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals and three blocked shots for an all around performance.
The Varsity is now tied with TC for the lead in the BCL with one loss apiece. Tuesday they face Cardinal Gibbons at home and then go on the road next week against SJCP on Sunday, the Dream Game against Lincoln from New York on Monday and next Tuesday against Mt. St. Joe at their home court. This is a crucial week for the team as SJCP has proven tough and we know MSJ will be difficult. Come out and support the team on Tuesday.
