PANTHERS SQUEAK BY OWINGS MILLS 56-54

The Panthers had their hands full last night with a feisty Owings Mills team.  The Eagles were down by eight in the fourth quarter and made a last gasp run when the Panthers tried (unsuccessfully as usual) to take the air out of the ball and shorten the game.

Sean Mosley led all scorers with 27 points and five rebounds and he made the two winning free throws with just a few ticks left on the clock at the end of the game.  All six of his points in the second half were from the free throw line as the Eagles made it difficult for him to move by draping defenders all over him. 

Wayne Sparrow chipped in with 13 points and Jason Jones, just up from the JV, added 5 points and played heady defense.  The unsung hero though was Donald Washington who came through with a huge tip-in to give SFA the lead for good.  He was resilient on the boards going against bigger players for his six boards.  Greg Lewis had 9 rebounds and his best effort thus far before fouling out in the last three minutes.

The Panthers are young and sometimes show it, but they are also talented and deep and as the season progresses should improve.  The next game is this Friday at Goretti and then on Sunday we are home for a match up with Mt. St. Joe.  I will be in Texas unfortunately, but my heart will be here on Sunday.
