College Financial Aid (FAFSA)

March 1 is the deadline!

The Financial Aid workshop that was cancelled on Feb. 14 will not be rescheduled. If you need help filling out the FAFSA, please contact me at x25 or call FAFSA directly at 1-800-4-FED-AID to speak with a customer service representative. The financial aid guest speaker, Mr. Mark Lindenmeyer, Director of Financial Aid, Loyola College, who has over 30 years of experience in Financial Aid, offered that parents call his office at 410-617-2576. His financial aid associates will be happy to assist you with any questions you might have.  I have supplied your student with financial resource guides to aid your understanding.

  • If you haven’t applied for a PIN already, you need to do that for both you and your student at www.pin.ed.gov. You will receive the PIN in three business days by email.

  • In order to apply for financial aid (FAFSA), you will need your 2006 federal tax return.  If you haven’t completed your taxes yet, use your W-2s or estimate your answers.  You can go back and correct your information later. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov in order to begin the process.  Submit the FAFSA online and print out your confirmation number. Don’t forget to apply before March 1!!!! Money is on a first come, first serve basis!

**DO NOT GO TO www.fafsa.com!!!! You will have to pay!

  • The Government will then send you a SAR or a Student Aid Report.  If necessary, make changes or corrections on it and resubmit your FAFSA for processing.

  • Review award packages from your colleges and compare amounts and types of aid.

  • Visit the Financial Aid office of the institution you want to attend.

The office will help you find additional money to attend!
