Spanish I
Grade 10 and 11
2 Semesters

This course provides foundational work for students beginning to develop their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing Spanish.  The course will look beyond the classroom at real life in the Spanish- speaking world.  The comprehensive step-by-step program inter-relates pronunciation, vocabulary, grammatical structures, culture, geography and lifestyles into thematic units.  It guides the student through individual, paired, group and internet activities performing a multiplicity of tasks, such as: drills, role playing, directed dialogues, dictation, written exercises, homework, notes, assignments and projects.

Spanish II
Grade 11 and 12
2 Semesters

PREREQUISITE:              Spanish I

This intermediate course provides sequential continuity for students working to develop their language skills in Spanish.  The program reinforces and strengthens previous learned material.  It introduces more complex expressions through tense shifting, comparative identification and imperative request.  It further examines Spanish lifestyles, comparing distinct differences between Spain, Latin America and North America.  The program presents the material through individual, paired and group activities performing such programmed tasks as: repetition drills, role playing, directed dialogues, dictation, readings, written exercises, homework, notes, assignments and projects.
